Plan your Svalbard Safari

Svalbard and the Spitsbergen archipelago, a remote destination in the high arctic providing access to some of the most awe-inspiring scenery and yet so accessible from mainland Europe. The door to polar adventure, Arctic wildlife, ice-scapes, polar bears, walrus, and more, Svalbard is a world unknown to most that realigns ones priorities and offers a truly unparalleled experience.

Svalbard safaris come in a variety of different formats, but our favourite and most popular is small ship exploration on our Svalbard wildlife safari. Our small ships take only 12 clients whereas most other small ships take 100+. This uniquely intimate trip makes for a magical experience as you access regions that other larger ships cannot, and the knowledge transfer from our specialist Expedition Leaders is unparalleled. 24hrs daylight serves for a surreal experience as you are ruled by what you see day or night; a polar bear at 2 in the morning, no problem, let’s go! A walrus haulout, let’s go and check it out. All of this backed up by our excellent crew and team with great food, hot drinks and fun.

For those looking for a bit more diversity, check out our Svalbard Land & Sea Adventure that combines snowmobiling out to the remote Isfjord Radio Station along with 4 days aboard our ship offering you a true mix of land and sea highlights over a period of 8 days or so. Due to weather conditions this trip is only available for a short window of time in April every year when the snow provides the perfect conditions.

The best time to visit Svalbard depends on what you want to see. For small ship adventures early season months of April and May provide heavy snow and ice cover, whereas later in the season offers the chance to circumnavigate the archipelago, each month offering something truly unique and spectacular.

Our favourite places to stay which you will find dotted throughout the itineraries below include the intimate Kinfish, the luxury of Polarfront, the back country adventure of Isfjord Radio Station.

Our bespoke safaris to Svalbard are tailor-made for your requirements. The below trips are examples of what we can do, but we recommend getting in touch to speak with one of our Svalbard Destination Specialists. Contact a Svalbard specialist.
