Gabon is unapologetically wild and enchanting – a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Gabon is a remarkable wilderness, with an impressive 11.25% of the country proclaimed as national parkland. This is a land of incredible wildlife, including lowland gorillas, chimpanzees, and huge troops of mandrills, while turtles and whales traverse the unspoilt Atlantic coast.

Seeing Gorillas in Gabon

With the second-largest rainforest on the planet, Gabon accommodates many primate species, with the most famed being the Western lowland gorilla.

Indigenous to Gabon, the western lowland gorillas population here thrive with one primary habituated group located within Loango National Park. Visiting the habituated 'Atananya Group' is a unique experience with rules in place to minimise visitor's impact on the gorillas, limiting group contact during the week.

Lowland gorillas move fast and cover vast areas of land. A safari to see them in the wild truly is unique, thrilling, and not for the faint-hearted.
