about the M/S Malmo

The M/S Malmö was initially built as a research vessel in the 1950s for the Swedish Maritime Administration. The ship was rebuilt in 2013 for the purpose of cruises and has now been ice-strengthened in order for the ship to explore difficult to reach areas.

M/S MALMO details

Style

A classic and intimate cruise ship with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Setting

The M/S Malmö will often be found cruising through the icy waters surrounding Svalbard.

Accommodation & Facilities

There are 7 passenger cabins available on board the M/S Malmö which (upon request) may be able to be rearranged into singles or triples. Five of these rooms have their own private facilities including showers. Each of the cabins have their own porthole which can offer incredibly unique photo opportunities and means that you may not even have to leave your cabin in order to witness a sighting.

Dining

All meals are included during your stay on the M/S Malmö, which will be a range of European style dishes. Almost any dietary requirements can be catered for as long as you have given sufficient notice to your destination specialist.

Activities

Whilst cruising through the archipelago you will have opportunities to see remarkable fjords, mountains and glaciers, as well as the amazing wildlife which calls this unique landscape home. Due to the small size of the ship itself you may even be able to photograph wildlife close up directly from the ship itself. There are also two zodiacs on board the M/S Malmö where you will have opportunities to take trips on, the group sizes on theses zodiacs are between 6-8 person per boat (compared to 12-14 on other vessels).
