About the Magellan Explorer

The Magellan Explorer is the world’s first polar expedition ship designed for Antarctic fly-cruise operations. Custom-built to take on polar waters and navigate seamlessly through narrow Antarctic channels, the Magellan Explorer boasts state-of-the-art technology, sleek and stylish interior spaces, and boutique hospitality.

This stunning ship offers a number of suites and cabins ranging from 220 ft2 to 440 ft2, with most offering a private balcony from which to enjoy the spectacular scenery. The spacious forward-facing observation lounge and bar were designed with large panoramic windows, so that the Antarctic views are never missed while briefings and presentations are conducted. Other social spaces include a gym, sauna, library, gift shop, meeting room, outdoor barbecue area and large observation deck.

Although the Magellan Explorer is designed to accommodate just 100 passengers, only 73 will travel aboard fly-cruises, allowing for dedicated single cabins and even more space to explore, both on board, by zodiac and on land. With ships in the polar industry getting bigger by the year, the Magellan Explorer will provide small group luxury in the wilderness of Antarctica.

Sleek, stylish interior spaces with a focus on large panoramic windows and comfortable cabins and suites, most boasting balconies.

Setting

The Magellan Explorer will exclusively sail Antarctica in search of vast ice fields, snow-covered landscapes and enchanting wildlife.

Accommodation & Facilities

Accommodation makes the most of modern design and is comprised of one triple suite, four single veranda cabins, two porthole cabins, seven veranda cabins, 12 deluxe veranda cabins, three penthouse suites and seven grand suites. The ship offers a gym, sauna, library, local intranet on board with daily programs, international news and updates available throughout the ship, a meeting room with multimedia resources and an interactive science lab, and large bright social spaces. The Magellan Explorer is equipped with advanced stabilisers as well as an energy recovery system to reduce its environmental footprint. There are also 10 zodiacs for exploring the wilds of Antarctica, with a maximum of 10 passenger per zodiac, and two mid-ship gangways for faster embarkation and disembarkation.

Dining

The main dining room offers buffet breakfast and lunch, and table-service dinner. There is an express lunch option available daily in the library, and a barbecue deck outside for al fresco dining when weather permits. There is complimentary self-service coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cappuccino and water offered 24/7 in the library and bar.

Activities

As with all expeditions to Antarctica, excursions are weather- and wildlife-dependent. The team on board will aim to have you out exploring by zodiac or on land at least twice a day. Antarctica is home to stunning scenery and incredible wildlife but there is history here too, and historical landings sometimes play a part in your itinerary.

Child Policy

The Magellan Explorer is most suited to adults, however older children can travel on some departures if accompanied by a legal guardian. Please contact us for details.
