• M/S Quest, Svalbard

about the m/s quest (FORMERLY the sea endurance)

In 2004/5 the M/S Quest was completely refurbished to cater for clients wishing to depart on expeditions to the Arctic. The M/S Quest now has a capacity of 53 passengers (still very small for an expedition ship!) and provides a comfortable and intimate experience.

Each of the 26 cabins comes with private facilities and, of course, sea views.

m/s quest ship details

Style

A refurbished ship, which originally served as a ferry on Greenland’s west coast, accommodating up to 53 passengers, with a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Setting

Sailing around the icy shores, fjords and coves that make up Svalbard, the most northern part of Europe. The exact setting will depend on which bear safari you chose and the wildlife of the moment!

Accommodation & Facilities

The cabins themselves are either doubles or triples, clean and comfortable, yet kept fairly basic. The triple cabins on deck 3 have upper and lower berths whereas all other cabins either have two lower berths or a double bed. Within each cabin for your comfort you will also have ample storage space for your luggage and a desk and a chair. There is also the choice of superior cabins (on payment of supplement) on decks 3 and 4 which are more spacious and have a separate sitting area and TV/DVD.

The observation decks are a great place to spend your time, watching the ocean and searching for seabirds, polar bears and whales. The panorama lounge is home to some interesting seminars on the local history, fauna and flora as well as breathtaking views out onto the icy ocean. There is also a bar and a small library.

Dining

The dining area provides tasty meals in between your excursions ashore and the panorama lounge is the perfect place to sit back and relax and enjoy the surrounding ice-scape whilst sipping on a refreshing drink.

Activities

Your exact activities will depend on which bear safari you chose and the wildlife of the moment. Please see some of the bear itineraries for ideas.

Child Policy

Children are generally allowed, however it is up to the parent to decide whether you child is ready for the requirements of group travel, will enjoy the experience and not compromise it for others. We suggest you speak to your Natural World Safaris specialist to discuss the specific trip requirements so you can decide on what is best.
