All you need to know about honeymoons in India...

India often suffers from “bad press” in regards to a difficult place to travel and everyone suffering from the unavoidable Delhi belly. A honeymoon to India however can offer very good value for money and a truly mesmerising experience.

From stunning temples to amazing cultural interactions and some of the best wildlife viewing on the planet, India is definitely worth considering for your honeymoon.

When compared to the wildlife of mainland Africa, India is always going to lose, however in place of this, India offers you a much wider experience. Tracking tigers in the wild on a tiger safari is a heart stopping moment as you see these striped predators slip silently out of the jungle; yes, it is more frenetic than an African safari, however a glimpse of one of these powerful beasts is truly unforgettable. A visit to India is not complete without stopping to enjoy a sunrise visit to the world renowned Taj Mahal; often underestimated and a truly romantic highlight of any honeymoon to India.

As well as the Taj you have the erotic Khajuraho tombs (if these don’t get the blood pumping then nothing will!) and a plethora of crumbling palaces and forts dotted throughout the country, some of which you can even stay in. One thing is true however in that India is a tiring place to travel, and therefore any honeymoon must also involve a few days relaxation on the beach.

Kerala provides the perfect place to unwind either on one of the boutique houseboats or luxury coastal hotels.

Tiger safaris principally revolve around the National Parks of Kanha, Bandhavgarh or Ranthambhore with our favourite places to stay being the personally run Shergah Tented Camp in airy ensuite tented rooms, Mahua Kothi Lodge or the sumptuous Banjaar Tola.

For the ultimate in comfort and view of the Taj Mahal from your room then the Oberoi Amarvilas is the one to chose and for a few days on your honeymoon…you won’t be disappointed.
