A luxurious tented camp with a relaxed feel and intimate atmosphere.
Setting
Chongwe is romantically positioned in the Lower Zambezi National Park, along the banks of the Zambezi River.
Accommodation & Facilities
Chongwe River Camp is comprised of eight meru-style tents and two larger suites which are situated on the riverbank, a short walking distance from the main tents. Each of the tents have an en-suite bathroom complete with a flush toilet and outdoor shower. The two suites each have two bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom, camp fire and a private plunge pool.
The camp itself is comprised of a large marquee style area where you can relax between game drives or enjoy a sun downer in the evening. There is also a small library area where you can charge your batteries. There is an outdoor dining area which where most meals take place, there is also a cosy camp fire area where you are able to return to in the evenings to swap stories with your fellow explorers about the exciting day you’ve just had.
Dining
All of your meals and drinks are included at Chongwe River Camp. A wonderful array of both local and international cuisine is served throughout the day using delicious, fresh local ingredients. Breakfast and lunch is served in a buffet style whereas, dinner is a little more formal as it is a three course meal served to you at the communal table under the stars.
Activities
As well as the walking safaris and game drives around the surrounding areas including the Lower Zambezi National Park, there are a number of other excursions available. It is possible to go canoeing or embark upon a majestic boat trip along the Zambezi and Chongwe Rivers, giving you a different perspective of your incredible surroundings.
Child Policy
Children over the age of eight are welcome at Chongwe River Camp. It should be noted that it is possible for children aged between 12 and 16 to take part in walking activities but this is at the discretion of the guide.
