Style
This tented camp is recently refurbished; it is secluded with a modern and contemporary style.
Setting
Overlooking the stunning and luscious Chayumba Lagoon, one of the permanent oxbow lakes, set in the shade of the surrounding ebony trees. The camp is about a three hour drive from the Mfuwe entrance to South Luangwa National Park.
Accommodation & Facilities
The 4 huge tents are raised on wooden platforms overlooking the lagoon from under white canvas. The tents have private verandas with different vantage points over the lagoon and 2 hammocks to relax and watch the profusion of game surrounding it. 2 tents are twins and 2 have large 4 poster king size beds, each is swathed in mosquito netting with a small lounge area, including wicker armchairs and footstalls, as well as a wardrobe and writing desk. Each tent is en-suite with a range of toiletries provided, including bathrobes, with twin basins, a flush toilet and a shower.
The main area is set on 2 levels; the upper level has a large pine table for dining out in the open with vistas of the lagoon. The lower level is a lounge area with wicker chairs and deckchairs made from cow hide, there are home made furnishings dotted around and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere to make yourself at home.
Dining
The tasty and varied meals are served in large portions, at times accommodating the day’s activities. Follow the steps down from the bar to a sandy beach area on the bank of the lagoon for a fantastic open air dining experience, or dine under canvas around the large pine table.
Activities
The wildlife and birdlife drawn to the lagoon means you don’t actually need to leave the luxury and comfort of the camp! However, for a real African adventure; knowledgeable and skilful guides can take you on walking safaris, game drives, night drives and sundowner excursions, showing you how to track the different wildlife.
Child Policy
Children over 12 allowed, under 12s are only allowed when the family book out the entire camp (8 guests).
