Its palm-thatched bungalows and spacious three-bedroom villa are crafted from local materials, featuring ocean views, open-air bathrooms, and an effortless blend of comfort and nature.
Beyond relaxation, Voaara Lodge invites guests to immerse themselves in the island’s rich wildlife and culture. From snorkelling vibrant reefs and whale watching between June and September, to connecting with local communities or dining under the stars, experiences here are both meaningful and memorable. With sustainability at its core and design rooted in Madagascan tradition, Voaara offers a truly authentic luxury stay in Madagascar.
Location
Voaara Lodge is located on the northern tip of Sainte-Marie, a quiet island just off Madagascar’s east coast. Surrounded by untouched beaches, tropical forest, and traditional fishing villages, the lodge is easily reached by boat or 4x4 transfer from the local airstrip.
Accomodation
Currently home to seven palm-thatched beachfront bungalows and a spacious three-bedroom villa, Voaara Lodge offers understated, eco-conscious luxury. Locally-sourced materials, indoor-outdoor living spaces, and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean create an intimate and stylish atmosphere. Future plans include more villas and a communal infinity pool cantilevered over the beach.
Activities
Voaara is ideal for both relaxation and exploration. On the water, guests can snorkel, paddleboard, surf, or embark on guided boat trips to spot humpback whales (June–September). On land, there are opportunities to walk the coastline, explore nearby villages, and encounter Madagascar’s endemic flora and fauna. A PADI dive centre, yoga platform, and electric bikes will be available in the next development phase.
Dining
Dining at Voaara blends Mediterranean and Asian influences, with a focus on fresh local ingredients. Expect grilled lobster and squid over coconut husks, fish of the day with Malagasy XO sauce, and alfresco breakfasts in your villa or on the beach. Guests can enjoy signature cocktails at Franco’s Bar, book private sandpit dinners by firelight, or head up to the Bird’s Nest observatory for sushi and stargazing.

This exhilarating adventure through some of Madagascar’s most biodiverse regions showcases the best of its wildlife and natural splendour.
This exhilarating adventure through some of Madagascar’s most biodiverse regions showcases the best of its wildlife and natural splendour. Lacking in the big game and fierce predators of its African relatives, Madagascar offers a unique and ‘hands on’ experience for your safari. A range of weird and wonderful insects and reptiles can be discovered and closely inspected, and the instant appeal of cuddly lemurs is magnetic for many travellers.
Voaara Lodge stands out for its commitment to creating a meaningful, low-impact luxury experience. The lodge feels truly integrated into the landscape of Sainte-Marie, from its natural materials and palm-thatched design to its connection with local culture and village life. We love that the team has prioritised sustainability and community involvement without compromising on comfort or style. Whether whale-watching from your villa, dining under the stars, or drifting off to the sound of the sea, Voaara offers one of the most unique and rewarding Madagascar beach lodge experiences available today.
