Short Madagascar Safari
In this safari you can experience a vast amount of wildlife in a short amount of time. Head into Andasibe National Park and Mantadia Reserve to offer you a truly unique insight into the initial fauna and flora of Madagascar.
Namoroka Tsingy Camp is a new tented camp in northwestern Madagascar, opened in August 2024 as the only accommodation within the remote and seldom visited Tsingy de Namoroka National Park. This extraordinary landscape of razor-sharp limestone pinnacles, narrow canyons, and biodiverse forests offers a truly off-the-beaten-track experience, with the camp providing front-row access to its dramatic terrain.
Surrounded by six distinct ecosystems – from dry and bamboo forests to wetlands and one of Africa’s largest known cave systems – the camp is built for adventurous travellers. Guests can explore tsingy trails, spot lemurs in the forest canopy, or venture into the vast Marosakabe cave
Location
Namoroka Tsingy Camp lies on the edge of Tsingy de Namoroka National Park, near the village of Soalala in Madagascar’s northwest. Reaching camp is part of the adventure: arrive via private charter or boat to Soalala, followed by a 2.5-hour 4x4 transfer through striking dry forest and wild terrain.
Accommodation
The camp features five safari-style tents (increasing to nine in 2025), each with a four-poster bed, mosquito netting, en suite bathroom, and a spacious private outdoor living area. Powered by solar energy, tents offer 24/7 electricity and hot water, alongside thoughtful design details like locally made furniture and natural materials. There’s no air conditioning or pool – just the sounds of the forest and star-filled skies overhead.
Activities
Explore narrow tsingy canyons, discover strange cave-dwelling creatures, and spot up to ten species of lemur, including aye-aye, Von der Decken’s sifaka and Coquerel’s giant mouse lemur. Night walks, birding and forest treks offer varied perspectives of this ecologically rich region, while the Marosakabe cave system – one of the largest in Africa – offers a subterranean safari of its own.
Dining
Meals are served in a beautiful open-air dining area, with menus focused on fresh, local ingredients. Expect Malagasy staples, seasonal vegetables and freshly caught fish, all enjoyed in the heart of nature. Dining is communal and informal – stories are shared, stars are admired, and the experience is immersive from start to finish.

This exhilarating adventure through some of Madagascar’s most biodiverse regions showcases the best of its wildlife and natural splendour.
This exhilarating adventure through some of Madagascar’s most biodiverse regions showcases the best of its wildlife and natural splendour. Lacking in the big game and fierce predators of its African relatives, Madagascar offers a unique and ‘hands on’ experience for your safari. A range of weird and wonderful insects and reptiles can be discovered and closely inspected, and the instant appeal of cuddly lemurs is magnetic for many travellers.
We love Namoroka for its raw sense of adventure and access to one of Madagascar’s last true frontiers. This is not polished luxury – it’s rugged, real and deeply rewarding. The landscapes are otherworldly, the wildlife encounters unforgettable, and the lack of other visitors makes for a rare sense of solitude. It’s a place for those who want to travel with purpose – supporting conservation, connecting with nature, and experiencing the wild on its own terms.
