Lodge Details
Style
An intimate, boutique guest house with just six guest rooms.
Setting
On the Royal Hill of Antananarivo, the hotel is located within its historical district, a romantic neighbourhood of winding cobbled streets and ancient houses. Facing west, the hotel has panoramic views of Anosy Lake, Mahamasina and Tanjombato.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are just six rooms in the hotel, each uniquely designed and with views over the capital. In common, all rooms have a desk, Wi-Fi, minibar and heating during the winter. Double rooms include the West Indies Room, the Purple Colonial Room and the English Room (English missionaries once lived on the same hill). Explorator’s Room (full of old maps of Madagascar) is a twin and the two suites are the Baroque Suite and Rose’s Room – these have additional space and a TV set. For anyone who has difficulty with mobility or walking, we recommend Rose’s Room or the Explorator’s Room on the second floor. These two rooms can be used by a family, so you could have the whole second floor to yourselves.
There is a wonderful terrace where you can relax with a drink and absorb the views over the city. As a special little something, at sunset Lokanga will often provide you with fois gras on toast accompanied with some wine.
Dining
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, but booking in advance is highly recommended. Breakfast is buffet style, lunch is Malagasy and dinner is a refined 3 course meal.
Activities
You are in a great spot to head out and explore the local area, or venture further out into the city of Antananarivo. Lokanga offers to complete your historic experience with a tour in one of the 1950’s Citroen cars.
Child Policy
Children welcome.
