Lodge Details

Style

Jardin du Roy is built in such a way that it blends into the sandstone rocks in the background.  It is a cosy lodge with good quality accommodation and great views.

Setting

Jardin du Roy is on the edge of Isalo National Park, a few miles outside of Ranohira. The main lodge looks down over a long stretch of lawn, which ends in towering sandstone cliffs.

Accommodation & Facilities

The lodge comprises 15 luxury rooms and nine bungalows.
The inside of the luxury rooms very much echoes the landscape outside, with polished wooden floors, granite walls and deep red fabrics reflecting the bougainvillea in the garden. All of the rooms are ensuite and have a small veranda where you can relax with a great view of the cliffs.

The nine low, round bungalows are built in a clearing amongst the rocks. These are slightly smaller than the luxury rooms, but still very pretty, with stone wall, thatched roofs and bougainvillea growing around the door.

There is a cosy dining room and bar with a pool table and board games and a swimming pool in the gardens.

Dining

A cosy restaurant with a fireplace

Activities

Guided walks can be arranged from Jardin du Roy into the picturesque Isalo National Park and these can include visits to the Canyon des Singes and Canyon des Rats which are cut into the sandstone. Isalo is an impressive national park with beautiful colours and sculpturing of the eroded terrain and sweeping panoramas. Horses are available, and rides or hikes can be organised in the surrounding countryside.

If you're not exploring the national park, there is plenty to do in the lodge. There is a good sized swimming pool. Tennis and riding can be organised and a masseuse is on hand.
