A luxury tented camp set in the tranquil, yet arid heart of the Samburu Land.
Sasaab Camp is tranquilly set on the Ewaso Nyiro River banks, a great spot to enjoy the wild, dry beauty and experience some rare and endangered wildlife.
The location encourages some great interaction with the Samburu people, who are fiercely proud of their customs and traditions and enjoy sharing them.
Accommodation & Facilities
The main lodge is set on a high rocky ridge and lets you gaze through the fascinating Moroccan interior. There are 9 Moroccan style tents, which all include a bedroom, lounge area and en-suite bathroom, complete with twin wash basins. Each tent has its own private plunge pool as well as use of the main pool which overlooks the river. Two of the tents are located together and share a veranda and pool; this is for the use of families.
All tents have wireless internet access, cooling ceiling fans and power points (all solar powered).
Food is of exceptionally high quality, fresh and influenced by Moroccan cuisine.
Day and night game viewing drives, river walks, day visit to Samburu Reserve and bush dinners. Other activities include mountain biking, camel rides, beauty therapy and a trip to visit the proud cultural Samburu people.
Children are welcome and can enjoy their own nature trails. With a group leader they will get to make their own Samburu Arrow and Samburu toothbrush from the toothbrush tree.
Water is solar heated and recycled wherever possible. Food and materials are sourced locally and a large percentage of employees are from the local area.
