Style
A luxurious camp with traditional detailing and friendly hands-on staff to make for an unforgettable stay.
Setting
Located in a private conservancy of the Masai Mara, Cottar’s Camp boasts a wildlife reserve of 6,000 acres. Views from the lodge include the sprawling plains of both the Masai Mara and the Serengeti and your open-sided tent provides the perfect spot for watching the sun set over this stunning view.
Accommodation & Facilities
Cottar’s Camp consists of just 10 en-suite tents and so offers a very intimate safari experience while still remaining spacious. With a honeymoon tent, five doubles and four family suites this camp can cater to any group, yet the layout of the camp ensures privacy for all guests. The communal spaces, including the pool, spa and reading areas are a great place for relaxing in the afternoon between game drives or you can always retire to your own private tent for more solitude.
The neutral colours of the camp décor ensure timeless elegance and there are plenty of little touches to make your stay absolutely unforgettable.
Dining
The food at Cottar’s Camp is well-presented, imaginative cuisine prepared by a small team of experienced chefs and can be served in your private suite or in the main dining area. Drinks can also be served in the bar or in your room so you can enjoy a tipple while watching the sun go down.
Activities
With perhaps the highest quality of guiding in all of Kenya’s safari lodges, Cottar’s Camp prides itself on its Gold standard guides who all have fantastic personalities as well as expert knowledge and a strong conservation ethics. Your time at the camp will include both day and night drives in the 6,000-acre private conservancy and the main Masai Mara reserve. In addition, you can enjoy cultural activities with the local Maasai community; if your children think they've got what it takes, see how they fare in Maasai warrior school!
You'll even be able to accompany researcher Stratton Hatfield on the search for a tagged martial eagle, which can be tracked via its transmitter. Make sure to keep an eye out for other raptors as well. Guests can also learn about the 4 Cs Initiative (Conservation, Culture, Commerce and Community) and all that the camp are doing to maintain both their status as a Global Ecosphere Retreat and their Gold Ecotourism certification from Ecotourism Kenya.
Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome and there are four family suites. Children’s menus can also be provided.
