juma jungle lodge detail
Style
A unique lodge built on stilts, in a remote area.
Setting
The Juma Jungle Lodge is built on stilts and is situated in the middle of the Amazon forest, about 100 km south of Manaus. Built on the banks of the Juma River and covered with Babaçu palm tree leaves, there are no mosquitoes in the area, due to the acidity of the waters.
Reaching the lodge takes three hours via speed boat - a great opportunity to observe the giant water lily, rainforest trees, pink river dolphin and local communities living on the riverbanks. The trip can also be made by a hydroplane (25 minutes) upon request.
Accommodation & facilities
Guests can chose from the 11 standard huts, which face the jungle, or the 12 superior huts which face the lake - the superior huts are nestled amongst the treetops, 15 meters above water level and located in an exclusive area of the lodge. All huts are comfortable, with private bathrooms, fans and balconies.
Facilities at Juma Jungle Lodge include a bar/lounge and a library. The dining area is a circular ‘moluca’ structure, also on stilts, and the tables are long and curved, creatively carved out of a light blond wood.
Dining
The lodge offers a buffet-style restaurant with a good selection of regional food.
Activities
Jungle safaris, jungle hikes, alligator spotting and piranha fishing are all offered, as are visits to local communities, sunset safaris, canoeing trips and overnight jungle stays, sleeping in hammocks.
Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome at Juma Jungle Lodge.
