cristalino lodge detail
A stylish eco lodge.
The lodge is set in a private reserve of more than 29,652 acres, on the Cristalino River, in Brazil's southern Amazon.
The lodge is a 90 minute, rugged drive from the town of Alta Floresta, from where you cross the Telas Pires by motorised canoe and boat up the Cristalino River for 30 minutes to Cristalino Jungle Lodge.
Accommodation & facilities
The accommodation consists of 18 rooms, built in order to promote close contact between visitors and their surroundings. Three levels of accommodation are offered: Private bungalows, superior rooms and standard rooms.
Standard rooms have twin beds, ceiling fans, and en-suite bathrooms with solar-heated showers. Superior rooms have larger beds and are elegantly furnished, with private verandas. The private bungalows are more spacious, with a small lounge area and veranda with chairs and a hammock.
Sustainable practices are used throughout Cristalino Lodge, using solar heating, a grey-water treatment system, black-water treatment system and natural roof venting.
The lodge facilities are arranged in two clearings, with the dining room/bar, kitchen and lounge/library in one clearing, and accommodation in the other.
The living room is also used for evening presentations and the fabulous floating deck is great for swimming off and relaxing on.
The lodge has a friendly restaurant with bar serving delicious regional dishes and appetizers. The bar specialises in excellent caipirinhas. For special nights there is a thatch roof patio where candlelit dinners may be served.
Rainforest hikes, tapir clay lick visits, canoe excursions, canopy viewing and swimming are all offered, with specialist tours (bird, butterfly, ecotourism, photography, family) also available.
In addition, canoes and inflatable boats are available for use, and the lodge has a rustic, screened tree house in the forest which is used for spotting tapirs and peccaries.
Children of all ages are welcome.
