Once dusk arrives, however, the wildlife viewing gives way to the spectacular natural phenomenon that is the Aurora Borealis. Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Winnipeg

Arrive in Winnipeg and transfer to your hotel located at the historic junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers in the heart of Winnipeg. The day is free to explore this enchanting city. Meet your group and adventure specialist for dinner at about 7pm, then get a good night’s rest for an early start tomorrow.

Day 2

Winnipeg - Churchill

This morning you fly to Churchill, where you will be transferred to the hotel which will be your base for the next two days. After a hearty brunch and a briefing, you will be taken to the docks of Churchill River for a kayaking excursion where you get the unique opportunity to interact with beluga whales, and your guide is never too far away in an accompanying zodiac.

Day 3


Today you enjoy a fantastic mix of wildlife, culture and delicious food. Start your morning with an early, healthy breakfast before making your way to the estuary for a guided tour and optional swim with belugas while the tide is high. Following your beluga encounter, head over to the family-run Gypsy’s Bakery & Restaurant, a local favourite, for lunch and baked delicacies. Once everyone is refuelled you’ll have the afternoon to do a spot of shopping in the town’s unique shops or partake in a second beluga kayaking session before getting your cultural fix at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre and the award-winning Eskimo Museum. Finish your day in Churchill with a home-cooked meal by local resident, Helen Webber, whose family connection to the area dates back to the fur trade. Not only will you get to savour her gourmet cooking but you will also get to take home a copy of her cookbook from her bestselling series “Blueberries and Polar Bears”.

Days 4-7

Hudson Bay

This morning you enjoy a short scenic flight over the coastal flats of the bay on your way to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge. You’ll spend the next three days exploring the area around the lodge looking for Arctic wildlife. Some of the animals that are often seen in the areas around the lodge are polar bears, black bears, wolves, Arctic fox, migratory birdlife (millions!) and much more to a backdrop of spectacular summer colours.

Day 8

Hudson Bay - Winnipeg

Today, enjoy your last morning at the lodge to make the most of any final photo opportunities. You will then return to Churchill where you will have a few hours to explore and pick up some last minute souvenirs. You will be given a voucher for your lunch. Your flight back to Winnipeg leaves this afternoon. Upon arrival you are transferred back you your hotel in Winnipeg you have the evening free to reflect on the incredible experience of the last few days.

Day 9

Depart Winnipeg

It is now time to head back to reality. Enjoy one last breakfast together then ensure your bags are all packed and ready for your flight home. If you have not had enough bear action for one lifetime, then please let us know!
