Day by day

Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Winnipeg

Arrive in Winnipeg and transfer to your hotel located at the historic junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers in the heart of Winnipeg. The day is free to explore this enchanting city. Meet your group and adventure specialist for dinner at about 7pm, then get a good night’s rest for an early start tomorrow.

Days 2-3

Winnipeg - Churchill

Early in the morning of Day 2, you will depart Winnipeg for Churchill. Upon arrival you will be greeted by our local representative, who will assist with your transfer to your home base for the next couple of days. After settling in, you will enjoy a hearty brunch in a restaurant where your local guide will introduce you to the itinerary for your time in Churchill. During your two days in this historic port town you will be scheduled for four separate marine excursions. These will include a combination of kayaking with beluga whales in the Churchill River and touring the Prince of Wales Fort while beluga watching from the boat. Excursion times for your Churchill adventures will vary with the tides in order to maximise your time with the belugas. One of your days will conclude with a relaxing dinner at a favoured local dining spot while another will include a gourmet dinner hosted by local resident Helen Webber in her home. Helen has a multi-generational connection with this northern community, going back to the fur trade, and you will enjoy her culinary talent first-hand while also taking home your meal in the form of a cookbook from her bestselling series “Blueberries and Polar Bears”. Throughout these two days there will also be time to wander about the unique shops, visit the excellent Parks Canada Museum located in the historic train station, the award-winning Itsanitaq Museum and other points of interest.

Days 4-7

Hudson Bay

Today begins with a scenic flight over the coastal flats of Hudson Bay before arriving at Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge, your home for the next three days.

During your stay at the Lodge you will get the opportunity to embark on a number of excursions including heading out on the specially designed ‘tundra rhino’, used to explore the tidal flats and Hudson Bay shoreline, whilst enjoying opportunities to photograph polar bears and other abundant wildlife in this unique environment. Explore and experience the vast coastal beach ridges and river deltas of this pristine environment either by vehicle or on foot.

Breakfast is usually hot and served at 8am, lunch is served either out on the tundra or back at the lodge, and then you have appetizers, cocktails and dinner from 6pm. In the evenings, your guides delight you with stories, presentations, slideshows or informal visits. The lodge offers great opportunities to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and the lodge staff monitor them during the night and will give you a gentle wakeup call to ensure you don’t miss a thing.

Overnight: Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 8

Hudson Bay - Winnipeg

Today signals your final morning at the Lodge and a final opportunity to get those final photos! Ensure you have your cameras ready for your return flight to Churchill to make the most of the aerial views.

Upon your return to Churchill, your luggage will be stored and you’ll spend the day with a guide exploring Churchill including the Polar Bear Jail, before a group dinner. Your flight to Winnipeg will depart this evening, where you will spend the last evening of your Arctic Adventure in The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel. Here you can reflect on the incredible experience and get some well-earned rest in preparation for your onward flight tomorrow.
