Chile Wilderness Explorer

Set foot in the wilds of Patagonia, the arid Atacama Desert and the picturesque Chiloé Archipelago on this scenic trip that runs the length of Chile, taking in some of the country's wilderness highlights.

Chile has no shortage of stunning landscapes to explore. This safari takes in two of the country's wilderness highlights – Patagonia and the Atacama Desert – as well as Isla Chiloé, part of the verdant Chiloé Archipelago that is known for its deep-rooted traditions, colourful wooden churches and considerable natural beauty. Your journey also includes stays in three boutique hotels, each one notable for its architectural design that blends harmoniously with the picturesque topography just beyond its doors.

What makes this trip extraordinary

  • Combine visits to the arid Atacama Desert with the Chiloé Archipelago and Patagonia’s Torres del Paine National Park.
  • During your time in the Atacama, venture forth into the otherworldly landscapes of Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) and Valle de la Muerte (Death Valley).
  • Experience the immensity of Patagonia through a variety of excursions within the Torres del Paine, exploring mountains, lake and glaciers.
  • Enjoy the scenic vistas offered on Isla Chiloé, one of Chile’s hidden gems, with its network of water channels and temperate rainforests.

Day 2

San Pedro de Atacama

Spend today choosing from a variety of activities available to guests staying at Tierra Atacama. Some of the highlights include an excursion to Valle de la Luna (so-called because of its similarity to the moon’s surface); Valley de la Muerte (Death Valley), an astonishing natural formation carved out by wind, rain and changing temperatures in the desert; the sprawling Atacama Salt Flats; Chaxa Lagoon, home to three types of flamingo; the Tatio Geysers, more than 80 vents that rise into 40 ft-high pillars of steam, dancing in the golden rays of the early morning; and the Puritama Hot Springs, a refreshing destination in a land where water is scarce – a truly enlightening experience! This evening, enjoy an included stargazing dinner.

Overnight: Tierra Atacama Hotel & Spa (B, L, D)

Day 3

San Pedro de Atacama - Santiago - Puerto Montt

This morning you will be transferred back to Calama Airport for your flight to Puerto Montt via Santiago. Meet your driver upon arrival and transfer to your hotel, located about 3.5 hours south in the scenic Chiloé province.

Chiloé Province

View the awe-inspiring natural landscapes on horseback, or be driven to the scenic spots. There is a menu of activities to pick from and whatever you decide upon, you will not be disappointed.
