Overnight: Ilala Lodge

Days 2-3

Victoria Falls

You have two full days to enjoy all that Victoria Falls has to offer; and the area offers a lot. Visiting these spectacular falls themselves is a must, and Ilala Lodge is right opposite the entrance. The power of the falls varies according to the time of year; May is a fantastic time of the year to see the falls in their full flow and so is a magical experience with a mile of falling water. Other activities include helicopter and micro light flights over the falls, bungee jumping, white water rafting, gorge swings and so much more! These can all be arranged and paid for locally.

Overnight: Ilala Lodge (B)

Day 4

Victoria Falls - Ivory Lodge Concession

You’ll be met at Ilala Lodge today and transferred by road south through the teak forest to a private concession just outside of Hwange National Park. This 6,000 acre reserve is the key home range of the Presidential Elephant herd, made famous in the 1980’s by Alan Elliot. Depending on your time of arrival you may have a chance for your first game drive in Zimbabwe!

Days 5-6

Ivory Lodge Concession

Ivory Lodge is situated on its own private concession which is home to lion, leopard, wild dog and big herds of elephants. Game drives are done on their reserve or sometimes into the main Hwange National Park. Hwange is a world famous reserve particularly known for its large herds of elephants. Other wildlife includes sable antelope, eland, roan, rhino, wild dog, lion, leopard, cheetah and some fairly large herds of buffalo. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives and glorious drives under the African setting sun, you can also visit the Painted Dog Conservancy and village tours. Walking safaris and game counts are available on request.

Day 7

Ivory Lodge - Somalisa Concession

After breakfast you will do a game drive through the park to the lovely Somalisa Camp, set in its own concession inside the Hwange National Park. This afternoon enjoy a guided game drive in a different area of the reserve.

Overnight: Somalisa Camp (B, L, D)

Day 8

Somalisa Concession (Hwange)

Enjoy game drives and guided walks with highly qualified guides. It is also possible to head out on a night drive which then gives you a better chance to see some of the nocturnal wildlife that soon appears. Things like spring hares, porcupines, genets, civets, bat eared foxes and hyenas are often seen and then lion and leopard become more active, making for an exciting wildlife experience.
