Day 2

Nairobi - ol Donyo Lodge

This morning you will be met and driven to Nairobi Wilson Airport in time for your light aircraft flight to the Mbirikani Group Ranch, a 275,000-acre private reserve that borders the Chyulu Hills. It is here that you will find your first safari accommodation of the trip: ol Donyo Lodge. The lodge is located in a stunningly beautiful area that is incredibly diverse, offering exclusivity away from the busier Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks. There is more of a wilderness feel here at Mbirikani and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro are often available. Few other lodges in Africa offer such a wide range of experiences in such a private setting. Settle in, enjoy lunch and then head out on an afternoon game drive to enjoy a sundowner with splendid views.

Overnight: Ol Donyo Lodge (B, L, D)

Days 3-4

On safari at ol Donyo Lodge

The beauty of a stay at ol Donyo, besides the beautiful accommodation and stunning setting, comes in the diversity of activities which are available. The private nature of the reserve means that both day and night drives are offered along with walking safaris. For those wanting a more unique safari experience we recommend a mountain biking or horse riding safari which will allow you to have an exhilirating experience on the plains. Horse riding safaris are particularly great as the smell of the horse masks your presence, allowing you closer encounters with wildlife, especially the giraffe and zebra. Whilst on drives you have good chances of seeing big tusker elephants, lion, cheetah and plenty of plains game. You can also meet the Maasai community who own the reserve, learning more about how they benefit from the reserve as well as the impressive conservation efforts underway here. If you prefer to spend an afternoon around the lodge, there is a hide where you can enjoy wildlife, particularly elephants coming to the waterhole to drink.

Overnight: Ol Donyo Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 5

ol Donyo - Nairobi - Lewa

There may be time for a final safari activity this morning before you are transferred to the airstrip in time for your light aircraft flight to the Lewa Downs via Nairobi. Upon landing into the Lewa Airstrip you will be met by your guide and game driven to Sirikoi. On arrival at the lodge you will be introduced to the staff and receive an orientation before being shown to your room. Time permitting, you will be able to enjoy your first game drive this afternoon.

Overnight: Sirikoi Lodge (B, L, D)

Days 6-7

On safari at Sirikoi

During your time at Sirikoi you will be able to enjoy twice-daily safari activities. Choose from morning, evening and night drives which allow you to explore the reaches of the conservancy and view the wildlife that is found here, including the black and white rhino population, elephant, leopard, and cheetah (which can be found hunting on the expansive plains). Besides game drives you can enjoy walking safaris which allow you to experience the intricacies of the bush, or take a visit to one of the hides on the reserve to observe passing wildlife. Lewa is also home to the 'northern five', a collection of unique species only found in this part of Kenya: the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, long-necked gerenuk and Grevy's zebra. Whilst staying at Sirikoi it is also possible to enjoy horse riding safaris, quad bike safaris and helicopter excursions (additional costs apply).

Overnight: Sirikoi Lodge (B, L, D)
