You will begin the second leg of your air safari with a spectacular flight over the Kalahari and the Red Dunes desert. Fly over the Zimbabwe kopjes to Mana Pools. The mighty Zambezi River flows from Lake Kariba through the Lower Zambezi Valley, a huge rift in the earth's crust. Over the millennia the Zambezi has rushed through this valley creating islands, channels and sandbanks. Old river meanders, left in the mineral-rich volcanic soils, have formed into small ox-bow lakes surrounded by lush vegetation and tall old stands of mahogany and ebony. This abundance of water and luxuriant greenery accounts for the valley's wealth of big game. Here you will have our own private mobile camp with the opportunity for fabulous walking safaris.
Another incredible flight takes you from the wilderness of Mana Pools to the pristine waters of Lake Malawi. You will stay at Nkwichi Lodge, which is nestled on the shores of Lake Malawi among baobabs on an unspoilt white sandy beach. You can discover a lost world here; go snorkelling in the clear waters and appreciate the exceptional lakeside scenery.
You will journey by air from Lake Malawi to the Indian Ocean. Despite its location in one of the wildest places on earth, Vamizi is set among the Quirimbas Archipelago in mellow waters just off of Northern Mozambique. Vamizi may appear to be the epitome of barefoot luxury, but the ocean waters offer a host of exciting activities such as fishing, diving, snorkelling and kayaking. You also have the opportunity to go on whale-watching trips during your time at this tropical paradise!
Again, you will experience contrasting landscapes as you fly to Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania. You will stay at Sand Rivers Selous, which was created by Luca’s friend and Chyulu Hills conservation partner Richard Bonham. During your time here you can go on game drives and walks in Selous Game Reserve. Spanning 45,000km sq. and comprised of grassy plains, open woodland and mountainous areas, Selous is a spectacular and diverse terrain. You may spot wildebeest, baboon, zebra and giraffe here!
Overnight: Sand Rivers (B, L, D)
You will fly over the Indian Ocean coast to Tsavo and then to Campi ya Kanzi, which is the last stop on your truly epic air journey. At Campi ya Kanzi you can enjoy game walks and horse rides and indulge in massages and yoga sessions to re-energise after your incredible adventure.
