Discover the wildlife of the Laikipia Plateau and the world-famous Masai Mara on this adventurous safari, including game drives, horse riding camel rides and cultural visits, before relaxing on the Kenyan coast.
Starting in Laikipia you will begin your journey at a fully working ranch set within a vast 24,000 acre wildlife reserve. Your days here will be spent exploring the vast terrain on game drives, nature walks, camel safaris or on horseback. Next stop will be the Naboisho Conservancy set within the renowned Masai Mara Reserve; this is the ideal area to spot hippos and crocodiles lazing in the Mara River as well as a huge variety of game. The great migration can be witnessed from here during certain months of the year where thousands of wildebeest and zebra can be seen passing through the area. End your safari with some coastal relaxation at Alfajari Villas.
Upon arrival into Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Nairobi Wilson airport this morning in time for your internal flight to the Laikipia Plateau. On arrival at Loisaba Airstrip, you will be transferred to your lodge where you will check-in and have lunch. This afternoon, spend exploring the reserve on a game drive or bush walk. Return to the lodge for dinner.
A number of Kenya`s most private, exclusive and wild reserves and lodges are based within the Laikipia Plateau. The area offers excellent wilderness safari game viewing and the opportunity for you and your family to experience the diverse wilderness in many different ways from day and night game drives, bush walks, cultural visits, bush meals, fly-camping, river swimming, tubing and fishing- there is something available for everyone! Home to 70% of the world's Grevy`s zebra population over 50% of Kenya`s black rhinos and the last remaining viable African wild dog population in the northern hemisphere. Here a strong focus is on community interaction and you and your family will have plenty of opportunities to spend time with the local Samburu people and learn about their way of life.
This morning, you will be driven back to the airstrip in order to meet your internal flight to the Naboisho conservancy, in the heart of the Masai Mara Triangle. Here your guide will meet you and take you to your next camp, game driving en-route. Now in a prime wildlife area, your game viewing will start right from the camp where you can enjoy game drives and many other activities.
Spend these days in the Naboisho Conservancy. Covered in savannah grassland, acacia plains and rocky hills, this diverse habitat supports a whole host of wildlife including giraffe, elephant, lion (the highest density in the area), leopard and cheetah, as well as hippos and huge crocodiles lazing in the river. During your stay enjoy guided walks across the savannah with the Maasai who have been doing it for generations. On foot you are able to see and experience the smaller aspects of the bush which you would usually miss whilst in a vehicle. Learn the Maasai's basic survival skills. Track and identify animal footprints and dung as you follow the path taken by elephants, wildebeest and lions. Listen to the secrets of the Savannah and let the gentle winds urge you forward. These vary in length and difficulty depending on your fitness and interests and your guide will discuss these with you in the camp. Game drives are usually conducted in the early mornings, late afternoon or at night when temperatures are at their lowest and the wildlife is more active. During your game drive, the knowledgeable Maasai guides will introduce you to life in the savanna and share their infinite knowledge about African wildlife.
You have the chance for a shared game drive this morning before making your way to the airstrip to catch your internal flight to the coast. You are met upon arrival at the airstrip and taken to your resort on the beach. The rest of the day is yours to relax and reflect on your safari!
