Day by day

Day 1

Kasane – Chobe National Park (Namibia)

Start your journey in Kasane Airport, where you’ll be met and taken to the luxurious Chobe Princess, which is moored in Namibia at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers. Settle into your ensuite cabin with beautiful views over the water. In the evening, enjoy a sunset cruise and watch the elephants come down to the river for their evening drink.

Overnight: Chobe Princesses D

Day 2

Chobe River

Staying on board the boat enables you to game view from the deck (or even from the plunge pool!). The boat also has a tender which you can board to explore the narrower channels. Large herds of elephant are often seen crossing the river in front of the houseboat as they make their way to the lush Caprivi grasslands. Other wildlife frequently seen are lion, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, zebra, lechwe and sable. Experiencing the magic of the Chobe from your boat ensures a memorable day today!

Overnight: Chobe Princesses B, L, D

Day 3

Chobe River – Selinda Spillway

In the morning, check out and return to Kasane airport in Botswana. Here you’ll be met for your short flight into the Linyanti region. Flying over the bush is a wonderful way to spot wildlife, especially the elephants that congregate in this region. Upon arrival at the airstrip, your guide will meet you for the transfer to your camp. Here your adventure starts in this remote region of Botswana! Check into your fly camp and meet your support crew as you prepare for a four day walking and canoeing safari along the Selinda Spillway. In the evening, you’ll learn more about the area and the wildlife you can expect to see over the next few days, whilst you dine around the campfire, under a blanket of stars!

Days 4-5

Selinda Spillway

There is no fixed agenda for the next couple of days. With the support of a full, experienced guiding team, you’ll navigate the spillway by canoe, stopping off wherever tracks or signs of wildlife appear. From there you’ll track the wildlife on foot, returning to your canoe to continue your journey. As well as elephant, cheetah, lion and leopard, the region is a birder’s paradise. The evenings are spent in basic dome tents which have hot bucket showers and long drop toilets. All the meals are freshly prepared and taken around an open fire. This is an African safari at its best and you’ll feel miles away from hustle and bustle of the modern world, especially as you are lulled to sleep by the sounds of the bush.

Day 6

Selinda Spillway – Shinde Concession

Complete your 45 kiliometre journey close to the convergence of the Linyanti and Kwando Waterways. Bid farewell to the crew and your new found friends as you depart to a nearby airstrip. Here you are met by your pilot for the short flight south to Shinde Concession, on the northern edge of the Moremi Game Reserve. This concession offers a diverse range of habitats from the riverine forests to the palm islands and dry veld. Your camp for the next few nights is an exclusive walking safari camp, with just three simple meru style tents each with an open air bush shower, bush toilet and a separate bush bath! The experienced team will cook up incredible bush cuisine and most meals are taken around the camp fire. Head out in the afternoon on a walk with your highly experienced armed walking guide.

Days 7-8

Shinde Concession

The emphasis here is about exploring the bush on foot by following in the footsteps of the past explorers. Getting away from vehicles and being on foot puts you close to the heartbeat of Africa as you feel the rhythm of the bush unravelled before you. Your guide will interpret the movement of the fauna and the life of the fauna. You’ll learn how to track fresh spoor to reveal the night’s events and understand the beauty of this unique ecosystem. Depending on water levels, you may also have a chance to glide through the waterways on a mokoro or try your hand at fishing. Return back to camp for afternoon siestas and evenings spent around the camp fire.

Day 9

Shinde Concession – Okavango Delta

Enjoy your final morning guided walk before leaving the camp to return to the airstrip. Board your light aircraft flight south to the depths of the Okavango Delta, where your luxury safari camp awaits! Situated in a 260,000 acre private concession in the Okavango Delta this camp is an exclusive community area and also home to a group of semi – habituated African elephants. In the afternoon you’ll enjoy a guided walk - or if you wish to, an afternoon game drive (though of course this goes against the concept of a silent safari!). Or simply relax in your hammock on your private balcony overlooking the floodplains. By now, you may appreciate a dip in the swimming pool with a cocktail in hand!

Overnight: Stanley's Camp B, L, D

Day 10

Elephant Interaction

This morning meet Jabu and Morula! These two semi-habituated elephants were orphaned at a tender age as a result of culling operations in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Jabu is the alpha elephant of the group; proud, handsome and playful! Morula has come from strength to strength. When she arrived, she was a lonely, maltreated, 17 year old. She is now gentle, sensitive and very caring. You’ll spend the morning getting to know these gentle giants, as you observe them as they feed, take mud baths and swim. The morning is followed by a scrumptious picnic lunch, before returning to camp. This afternoon we suggest a mokoro trip gliding through the waterways of the Okavango. You may also want to enjoy a scenic helicopter flight (at an additional cost and must be booked in advance).

Overnight: Stanley's Camp B, L, D

Day 11

Okavango Delta – Maun

Your final game activity this morning before bidding farewell to the African bush and all the adventures of the last 10 days. Take your last light aircraft flight across the delta to Maun airport to connect with your onward international flight.
