What to expect

Day 1 - Maun - Moremi Reserve

On arrival into Maun Airport, you will be met and shown to your onward flight to the Xakanaka airstrip. Your flight will take you over the renowned Okavango Delta; this will be your first view of the are as you will be exploring over the next few days. You will be met by your guide at Xakanaka and transfer to your camp. If time permits you may be able to go on your first game drive!

Days 2 - 3 - Moremi Reserve

After an early morning hot cup of coffee, you will set off on your morning game drive into the Moremi Reserve. This is one of the best areas of the Okavango Delta for wildlife. Open areas of water and savannah provide hunting grounds for prides of lions and watering holes for herds of elephants, whilst the tree line camouflages leopards. Other inhabitants include wild dogs and cheetahs. You will head back to camp in time for lunch and after you have had some time to relax you will head out on your evening game drive.

Day 4 - Moremi Reserve - Mababe Private Reserve

Following an early morning breakfast you take a slow drive through Moremi Game Reserve north-east towards the Khwai and Mababe Areas. On this moving day we shall do a mokoro excursion in the calmer back-waters of the Khwai and Mbudi channels as opposed to doing the mokoro in the quicker moving section of the Khwai River that runs through Mababe. Leopard, cheetah, serval and wild dogs are resident in this area and if you are lucky, you may be able to spot them along our journey. We pass the magnificent Dombo Hippo Pools in the morning stopping to enjoy the scenery and the antics of the resident hippo and shall game drive through Khwai until we reach Mababe.

Days 5 - 6 - Mababe Private Reserve

You’ll spend the following two nights camping at an exclusive campsite in the Mababe concession that has a strict max of 20 vehicles for the whole concession at any given time, exploring the river banks, Kalahari shrub to the east, cathedral mopane to the south on game drives both during the day and at night. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers you an opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during the day. We will also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot (please note that this activity is seasonal based on rains and grass height, your guide will determine the safety of walking in Mababe) to enjoy an up close and personal encounter with Botswana’s flora and fauna.

Day 7 - Mababe Private Reserve - Savuti (Chobe National Park)

Today we head further north on our way to Chobe National Park (4-5 hours) and our exclusive wilderness campsite in the Savuti region of Botswana. Passing through excellent lion and cheetah territory you can expect an exciting day. A chance to relax upon arrival or enjoy your first game drive (time permitting).

Days 8 - 9 - Savuti (Chobe National Park)

Two days to enjoy this wildlife-rich region on game drives and Bushman Painting Walks. This region is renowned for its elephant and lion interaction as it is inhabited by a large resident pride of lions numbering 20-30 members who have perfected the art of hunting elephants. The marsh region is also perfect cheetah territory with wild dogs also being spotted in the area during the wetter months.

Day 10 - Savuti - Chobe River

An early departure from Savuti to travel along the Chobe River arriving into Kasane. From here we enjoy an afternoon boat cruise to see what riverine fauna and flora you can spot and if you are in luck, even see some elephants crossing the mighty Chobe River!

Extensions to Victoria Falls can be arranged. Please ask for more details.
