Spend 10 days on this small group tour heading through Botswana staying in fully serviced en-suite tented camping, throughout the Moremi Game Reserve and exploring the fringes of the Delta by mokoro, explore the Khwai floodplains during the day and night looking for elephant, lion and leopard. You'll head to Chobe to end this trip, taking a boat safari and potentially heading on to Victoria Falls.
Day 1 - Maun - Moremi Reserve
On arrival into Maun Airport, you will be met and shown to your onward flight to the Xakanaka airstrip. Your flight will take you over the renowned Okavango Delta. You will be met by your guide at Xakanaka and transfer to your camp and go on your first game drive!
Botswana is home to an array of wildlife in some extreme wildlife habitats, from the arid salt pans of the south to the wetland ‘swamps’ of the Okavango Delta and Moremi Reserve and the luscious flood plains of the Chobe River.

Set off on your morning game drive into the Moremi Reserve. Open areas of water and savannah provide hunting grounds for prides of lions and watering holes for herds of elephants, whilst the tree line camouflages leopards. Other inhabitants include wild dogs and cheetahs.

Explore the Okavango DeltaDay 4 - Moremi Reserve - Mababe Private Reserve
Following an early morning breakfast you take a slow drive through Moremi Game Reserve north-east towards the Khwai and Mababe Areas and enjoy a mokoro excursion. We pass the magnificent Dombo Hippo Pools in the morning, enjoying the antics of the resident hippo.
This beautiful tented camp is set up only in the most exclusive campsites within private concessions. Each area is chosen for its natural beauty and the accessibility to diverse wildlife habitats for great sightings. The camp itself is wonderfully comfortable, each tent has an en-suite bathroom and despite being in the heart of some of Botswana’s wilderness, you can enjoy some of the most fantastic cuisine.

You’ll spend the following two nights camping at an exclusive campsite in the Mababe concession. We will also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and explore after dark, experiencing some of the nocturnal wildlife.
Seeing the 'big five' on safari is a must for any wildlife enthusiast. The term ‘Big Five’ came from the early game hunters and refers to a group of animals that are considered to be the most dangerous species to hunt on foot.

Today we head further north on our way to Chobe National Park (4-5 hours) and our exclusive wilderness campsite in the Savuti region of Botswana. Passing through excellent lion and cheetah territory you can expect an exciting day.
The best time to visit Botswana is during the dry season, with May to October being the most popular time to visit, seeing clear days, cooler temperatures and the best chance of seeing the big five. October and April are the shoulder seasons and are still likely to have dry, bright days. Lying south of the equator, Botswana’s hot and dry climate is interspersed with unpredictable rainy months throughout the summer and opposite seasons to that in the northern hemisphere.

Two days to enjoy this wildlife rich region on game drives and Bushman Painting Walks. This region is renowned for its elephant and lion interaction as it is inhabited by a large resident pride of lions numbering 20-30 members who have perfected the art of hunting elephants.
Chobe National Park is often frowned upon by African safari aficionados when compared alongside other wildlife viewing areas of Botswana. As a national park rather than a private concession, it is accessible via a variety of camps and lodges, rather than just the camps on the concession itself, hence it attracts larger crowns. In our opinion, however, Chobe along with Savute is definitely worthy of consideration when planning your Botswana safari.
Day 10 - Savuti - Chobe River
An early departure from Savuti to travel along the Chobe River arriving into Kasane. From here we enjoy an afternoon boat cruise to see what riverine fauna and flora you can spot and if you are in luck, even see some elephants crossing the mighty Chobe River!
