Lodge details
Style
A stunning, substantial desert lodge with private accommodation in chalets.
Setting
In the vast 2,100 square kilometre NamibRand Nature Reserve, within the Namib Desert, built atop a dune plateau.
Accommodation & Facilities
The 9 wooden chalets are built on stilts above the desert dunes. There are large, solid wood beds swathed in mosquito netting, a writing desk and comfortable seats. Outside, each chalet has a split level wooden deck with built in benches, and you can ask for your bed to be moved out under the stars; we recommend doing this in the summer. For more privacy there is the Mountain View Chalet which is located a little further away. All chalets are en-suite and come with luxury soaps and lotions. The main camp area is connected to the rooms via wooden walkways. Here you will find a bar, lounge, library and 2 dining rooms. There is also a variety of decks, as well as a swimming pool.
Dining
Meals are usually a communal affair, set around the large dining table in the dining room. Cuisine is simple yet excellent and accompanied by a selection of very good wines.
Activities
During your stay you are in the world’s oldest desert and activities are all about experiencing every part of that, whether it be nature drives or full day excursions. You can also book hot air ballooning or even have a wedding here.
