Lodge Details
Style
An upmarket lodge with a fun and modern décor, surrounded by desert.
Setting
The lodge is just 4km from Sesriem Gate at the base of the mountain and the distance can easily be walked. The lodge is alone as the only one situated within the Namib-Nakuluft National Park, surrounded by desert and dunes.
Accommodation & Facilities
Of the 25 chalets, 13 have views of the dunes and 12 look out to the mountains and canyons. They are all pretty similar and based on the style of Ovambo homes found in northern Namibia. Chalets are thatched with a wooden frame and orange canvas for walls. The front of the chalets have floor to ceiling glass for fantastic views of the surrounding desert and rooms have lots of leather and dark wood, giving them an authentic African feel. En-suite bathrooms include an open shower and separate toilet and twin basins with a great view. Rooms also include 2 comfortable loungers, mini bar and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, as well as drinking water.
The main area is open plan and raised on wooden decking, there is a lounge, bar, large restaurant and a swimming pool to cool off after a day in the sun!
Dining
Food at the lodge is great and there is the option of indoor and outdoor dining.
Activities
The main focus here is visits to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon. Sesriem Canyon is within walking distance of the lodge and Sossusvlei is a short drive away; guests can drive themselves as long as they return soon after sunset. Being located within the National Park means guests can set off to these locations before other tourists can even enter the gate and leave after they have gone, skipping the crowded periods.
Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome at Sossus Dune lodge.
