Style
Luxurious and exclusive. Mowani Mountain Camp has a quirky and unique style and a very personal and attentive service amongst beautiful desert scenery.
Setting
On a rocky outcrop, hidden by the large granite boulders of which the camp imitates, Mowani Mountain Camp is in the vast and unspoilt wilderness of Damaraland.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are 12 luxurious and spacious tents as well as a luxury room, mini suite and main suite; each decorated using an African theme. Tents are en-suite and have a private wooden deck from which you can enjoy your surroundings; some have spectacular views over the Damaraland landscape. The thatched suite is not just a luxury room, but an incredible experience. It comes with its own butler, private lounge, dining and bar facilities as well as 2 bathrooms, one indoors and one outside. The suite is the shape of a rondavel, as with the main buildings, hidden away and proving utter and complete privacy, even though it is completely open.
The main areas are thatched and round, the spacious lounge overlooks a waterhole and is a fantastic spot to enjoy a sundowner. The tempting pool and deck are almost hidden away amongst the giant rocks encompassing the camp.
Dining
The camp is half board, lunches can be acquired at extra cost.
Activities
There are various excursions that can be organised from here; visit the famous rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, the burnt mountain or the Organ Pipes. There are also nature drives that head out in search of the elusive desert adapted elephant and the rare black rhino as well as walking trails. Those who come with their own vehicle can use Mowani as a base to explore from by themselves.
