What Makes Kenya a Great Honeymoon Destination?

Explore arid deserts, the vibrant savannah plains, equatorial forests or snow-capped peak of Mount Kenya, before relaxing on tropical beaches and exploring the wild coral reefs around the coast.

Kenya makes for one of the most inspirational safari honeymoon destinations in Africa, with the perfect cocktail of wildlife, adventure, cities and beaches. Start with the thrill of an adventurous wildlife safari, exploring the wild plains with your very own expert guide before relaxing at your lodge at sunset as wildlife drinks from the water hole just metres away from your balcony.

What to Expect from a Kenya Honeymoon Safari

Kenya’s great infrastructure means plenty of smooth sailing, perfect for concentrating on your experience without the worry or stress. Being just 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and an 8 hour flight, Kenya is still a million years from the UK in so many respects. Very few other destinations have so much diversity in habitat and wildlife.

Cuisine

You can explore a whole host of different cuisines throughout your honeymoon in Kenya, from traditional Kenyan dishes to English style cooking. Many of the lodges will do an early breakfast before a game drive, with a sumptuous lunch or brunch packed to tuck into on your safari. A majority of dinners will be three courses, dependent on where you are staying. You will have the option of romantic private dinners and lunches out in the bush, or, in some places, you can dine on your balcony or in your room with the services of your very own private butler.

On beach resorts, fresh seafood and fruit is usually the specialty, and we would always recommend trying any local delicacies - it's all part of the experience.

Accommodation

On a honeymoon safari in Kenya, the accommodation choice can be a little overwhelming, so we have whittled down to some of our favourites for honeymooners, including Sasaab Camp, Mara Plains Camp, Ol Donyo Lodge and Loisaba Lodge. On the beach, we prefer to keep our honeymoon experiences as natural as possible, focussing on ‘barefoot luxury’ properties, such as the outstanding island of Funzi Keys, and the beautiful property of Msambweni House. We understand that accommodation is a huge part of any travel experience, especially your honeymoon, whether you are relaxing after a day out in the wild, or chilling after a day in the sun. And it’s not just comfort that’s important; here we will always put the location before brass taps, so sometimes you won’t even have to leave your rooms for the ultimate in wildlife viewing!

The lodges and camps you choose for your honeymoon safari are essential as they all vary in size and intimacy. It's also worth noting that some lodges and camps cater specifically to honeymoon couples with special offers and romantic arrangements that can be organised discretely prior to arrival. We'll work with you to organise everything.
