Accommodation & Facilities
Accommodation ranges from intimate lodges to opulent villas with plunge pools! All of them have warming fireplaces sitting/dining areas, beautiful spa style bathrooms and thick alpaca blankets. They also come with recycled slippers and a complete set of environmentally friendly toiletries. Superior and Superior Deluxe rooms are kept simple and beautiful, decorated with local crafts and eucalyptus beams. Junior suites are larger with a spacious relaxing area and the possibility of a balcony or a terrace. Bathrooms are large and private with a phone provided for extra comfort. Junior suite deluxes are expanded the expanded version, with an area of about 451.92ft² to absorb. The suites offer added amenities, such as Wi-Fi, plasma screens, home stereo and a mini bar. Bathrooms are luxurious with marble baths, a shower, twin basins and a toilet. There is also an outdoor shower and canopy day bed, as well as maid service 3 times per day. Suite Inkaterra is even more luxurious still; you will enjoy the comforts of your own garden, terrace and pool as well as an overly large sleeping area. Even the bath tub here has views, your very own personal paradise at about 1893.76ft².
There are also the Machu Picchu Villas consisting of 2 adjoining guest suites – totalling about 3153.68ft². The space is expansive and offers complete privacy, as you register in the villa and have 24 hour butler service! Overlooking lush green gardens with private terraces and pools for each suite, this is the perfect spot for the discerning traveller looking for an exclusive retreat.
The glass walled restaurant offers outdoor dining as well as in and there is a fabulous bar area, as well as a gallery, café and spa.
Dining
Authentic Andean cuisine is served with a modern twist, either in the café or the restaurant. Guests are advised to book a table in advance. People staying in the villas may order food up to the privacy of their own lodgings.
Activities
There is a total of 14 excursions available, with different intensity levels. Guests may walk along the hotels trails, join a twilight walk or go birding. There is the option of visiting the Spectacled Bear Project, an effort to help this critically endangered species recover from the negative effects of human impact. These are the only bears found in the whole of South America.
Additional activities include trips to the museum and market, a two hour walk along the Vilcanota River into the Mandor Valley and hiking up the magnificent Putukusi for spectacular views over Machu Picchu. You can also walk the Inca Trail on a one day trip, visit Machu Picchu and actually climb the mountain from the archaeological site to the summit of Au Machu Picchu. Guests may also hike the Poque mountain range where you can observe 6 different archaeological sites, after trekking through 3 eco-systems; pre mountain clod forest, mountain cloud forest and elfin forest.
