Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica is adjacent to Tampopata National Reserve, in a private 17,000 hectare reserve, an area known as the biodiversity capital of Peru.
Accommodation & Facilities
The 35 private cabanas are made from natural materials, with thatched-palm roofs and some have bamboo walls, all inspired by native Amazon design, yet combining modern amenities. The light and airy Superior Cabanas are a large 38m², divided into 3 areas including a siesta area, complete with relaxing hammocks, open plan bathroom and the bedroom. Thatched roofs and white washed walls, as well as the rustic wooden furniture bring the essence of your natural surroundings inside for a natural, bright and serene atmosphere. The Superior Rio rooms are similar, yet with panoramic views over the Madre de Dios River and the Amazonica Suites are larger at about 60m². The Tambopata Suite is the ‘ultimate rainforest retreat’, and features bamboo style walls, high thatched roofs, a plunge pool and a terrace. There is also a hidden and secluded outdoor shower as well as an en-suite bathroom.
All of the rooms and suites come with luxurious bedding and open plan bathrooms with bathrobes, rubber Andean style slippers and sumptuous towels. Inside you will also find umbrellas, torches, eco friendly toiletries and kerosene lamps for light.
There is also a tree house for adventurous guests, high in the jungle canopy and completely secluded. This is great for those looking to really feel at one with their surroundings and with an unbeatable service. Here there is the option to take a stroll at night through the tree top canopy, under the stars listening to the sounds of the jungle, a fascinating experience after your relaxing tipple at the Canopy Bar.
The hotel also features a spacious dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a gallery and a unique spa.
Cuisine is made from local, fresh ingredients and served in the dining room which features oversized windows for spectacular vistas. Those in the Tree Top House can enjoy light meals served to them in their rooms also.
The hotel itself features a butterfly house, wetlands to explore and the incredible jungle canopy, where you can literally walk amongst the tree tops, a place where species remain undiscovered and, until recently, only scientists would enter…
There are lots of other activities and excursions available from the hotel and upon arrival your interpreter will arrange your itinerary according to your wants and needs. The duration of these excursions ranges from a full day down to a quarter day and from easy to difficult. Activities include enchanting boat rides, experiencing the nocturnal activity in the Inkaterra Ecological Reserve and following one of 6 intricate and individual trails systems.
