Style

A luxurious hotel in the style of an authentic Andean village, with deluxe rooms, junior suites and villas available.

Setting

Belmond Rio Sagrado is about an hour and 10 minutes from Cuzco (add an extra 15 minutes if you are heading to the airport), set on the banks of the rushing Urubamba River.

Accommodation & Facilities

Rooms and suites have heated wooden floors, large dressers, goose feather pillows and 380 thread count Peruvian pima cotton sheets. Deluxe rooms have a private exterior terrace and junior suites have an added garden area. Both rooms and suites are beautifully appointed with earthy neutral tones, brightened by colourful and exquisite Peruvian fabrics. Bathrooms include Swiss showers with river views.

There are 2 villas, called Capuli and Orquidea, both of which feature 3 large bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, full kitchens, a dining room and a lounge area with a fireplace. Extending over 2 floors with high ceilings, windowed roofs and outdoor terraces give these villas a wonderful airy and clean feel, as well as the crisp clean lines. Villa Capuli has river views, whereas Villa Orquidea has panoramic views of the valley, as well as an added exterior roofed terrace and an outside living room. Personal housekeepers are available on request at these villas.

There is also a restaurant, stunning bar with incredible panoramas over the river and a spa including a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and exotic Spanish showers!

Dining

Cuisine is created from locally sourced ingredients from the on-site garden. Guests can dine on the terrace outside overlooking the river, or in the Peruvian style El Huerto Restaurant. This beautiful and sophisticated venue is instantly charming and serves delicious fusions of Peruvian cuisine and international delicacies.

Activities

From Belmond Rio Sagrado a range of wild and adventurous activities are available as well as culinary tours. Go horseback riding or hiking, visit the archaeological sites of Maras and Moray by vehicle (difficulty is intermediate and you need a 30 minute driving lesson). Paragliding is available for a unique perspective of the area or test your rock climbing skills. Fishing and river rafting are also available, as well as the amazing spa - for those who want something a little more relaxing!

Cooking lessons are available, as well as picnic and barbeques. Help the local farmers by feeding the bottle fed young alpacas or watch the mystical ceremony, a powerful ritual performed by the shaman which promotes atonement, cleaning and revitalisation of the soul.
