about Arenas del Mar, Manuel Antonio National Park

Uniquely combining nature and beaches, Arenas del Mar caters for those looking for more than just a luxury getaway. Just a short walk from Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific Coast, this is where the jungle meets the sea, resulting in an eccentric, yet very sustainable place to stay.

Elegant and sophisticated, the buildings are made to fit around the existing trees which climb around the outside as if reclaiming it. Inside, the walls are peppered with Costa Rican artwork by local artists and there is a real authentic and spacious feel.

Accommodation & Facilities

The 38 rooms and suites are carefully thought out, with neutral walls emphasising the space and wooden floors and bright fabrics bringing an air of warmth. Rooms and suites are divided into 'ocean breeze' or 'ocean view'. Superior rooms have en-suite bathrooms and the rainforest superior rooms have a living area and a terrace with a hot tub. Ocean breeze suites have a balcony in the bedroom, as well as a living room and bathroom, and the ocean view suites have an extra bathroom and sublime views of the sea. The facilities are modern and each room has internet connection, a mini bar, cable TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

There are two swimming pools filled with ionised water and spa treatments are available. There is also a shop selling handbags and jewellery made by the local people.

The restaurant is very stylish and serves exceptional cuisine, using locally sourced ingredients and flavours.

The hotel guide, Eduardo, is excellent at helping you find what it is you’re looking for, whether it be sloths, tree frogs or monkeys. From the hotel, take the time to explore Manuel Antonio National Park, the highlight of many people’s trips to Costa Rica.

The hotel has its very own 5 acre nature reserve where you can embark on walks to find many different species of wildlife, from porcupines and snakes to owls. There is a 6am bird watching tour that we recommend very highly and an incredibly immersive night walk.

You can also hike to the Villa Nueva Waterfall, take a trip to see the local community or try the canopy tour, as well as kayaking through the swamps, learning to surf, white water rafting and horse riding.
