Puyuhuapi (which in indigenous terms means “place of the puye fish”) Lodge is accessible only by sea, on the edge of Dorita Bay – in a place of glaciers, fjords, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Surrounded by three waters; salt from the sea, fresh from the mountains and hot therapeutic thermal waters that reach 85ºC, it is in a unique isolation, an ideal spot for you to relax and recuperate your spirits.

Style

A relaxing and luxurious eco-lodge, integrated well with the surrounding landscape. Buildings all face the coast for fantastic views and are in a similar to style to those on Chiloe Island, making use of local elements of wood, stone and tiles.

Setting

209Km south of Chaiten, on the edge of Donita Bay – this lodge has no land access, ensuring complete exclusivity.

Accommodation & Facilities

Stays here are usually done via a package, including accommodation and new excursions every day. For these programs, there are 29 Superior double rooms and 1 Captains suite. This accommodation is cosy, with a private living space and a balcony overlooking the bay. TV’s are banned to encourage guests to disconnect with their daily urban routines, however they are by no means lacking in facilities. Rooms include central heating, a safe, hairdryer and telephone, in the bathroom hot, thermal water is used! Superior doubles have ample space at 24m², the Captains Suite is double that at a massive 48m².

For guests staying independently, rather than as part of one of the programs, there are 9 standard double rooms; 4 with bay views and 5 with forest views, and 2 Duplex’s accommodating 4 to 5 people.

At Puyuhuapi Lodge, there are 3 thermal open air baths on the edge of a fjord – amazing to brave whatever the weather or even under the stars. The Spa is located where the fresh, salt and thermal waters converge and has large panoramic windows to incorporate the view. Promoting relaxation, the spa has its very own waterfalls, fountains and cold water to enjoy, as you look out over the spectacular landscape, over to the snowy peaks of the Andes.

Other facilities include a children’s pool, cold water pool, steam shower and a rest zone. On the second floor you will find the changing rooms, a fully equipped gym and a meeting room. The third floor is where two towers are used for a huge range of therapies including Thalassotherapy, massage and exfoliation.

Dining

The cuisine here fuses typical Patagonian, Chilean and Mediterranean flavours to create inventive and healthy menus. Seafood is often used after it has been plucked straight out of the Patagonian fjords, lamb is fresh from nearby fields and vegetables are from their very own greenhouse.

Activities

The menu of excursions here is huge, including trekking, fly fishing, kayaking and motor boating. Take an easy route to the Hanging Glacier, explore the Enchanted Forest, venture round the Patagonian fjords or visit Puerto Puyuhuapi to experience the culture of the island of Chiloe.
