One of the newest hotels in the driest of deserts, Atacama, Cumbres San Pedro combines modern architecture with ancient Ayllu’s paying homage to the native desert inhabitants. Rustic elements are blended with traditional and contemporary design and big picture windows welcome the exquisite surroundings.

Activities include everything from visiting geysers and lagoons, to trekking the Guatin Valley or the Valley of the Moon.

Setting

2 Kilometres south of San Pedro de Atacama within the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. The nearest airport is Calama, 2 hours from Santiago, then Kunza can provide transport (if all inclusive) direct to the hotel which takes about an hour.

Accommodation & Facilities

Of the 60 rooms, there are 6 deluxe suites and 54 standard suites. The rooms are all the same size, available as double or twin, and can be connected to create larger areas which are great for families. There is also a room for disabled guests with all the same features, just easier access. Rooms have beautiful designs, with sumptuous bedding and rustic features. One wall is pretty much made from glass, opening out onto a private terrace with comfy seating, perfect for enjoying a book or a glass of wine. All rooms have an outdoor shower, minibar, flat screen TV, free cable internet and a safe as well as independent air conditioning.

The hotel is connected via a series of stone walled paths leading to the main areas which include the pool, gardens, restaurant, bar and amphitheatre. There is also a spa with 3 outdoor pools, a Jacuzzi, saunas, gym equipment and massage therapies. There is Wi-Fi in the common areas.

Cuisine is delicious and put together by a talented chef who makes the most out of the local ingredients, blending modern techniques and ancient products.

Activities

From desert walks, cycling and horseback outings, to watching the sunset or trekking through glorious valleys, there are a multitude of places to go and things to see. From here you can embark on full and half day excursions, from exploring the Valley of the Moon, El Tatio Geysers, the Town of Machuca and the Salt Flats, to the Valley of Death, stunning Cejar Lake and Loa Canyon.
