Standing out in the area for its unusual shape, Albatros Hotel is set angularly on the street corner, made from glass, wood and stone. This intriguing design has made for some spectacular interiors where rooms are bathed in natural light and guests have spectacular views towards the port and Beagle Channel.

Setting

Located on the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, in Ushuiaia the most southern city in the world! With views to the Beagle Channel and across to the Andes, the hotel is in a great spot on Cauquen Bay with plenty of tourist attractions close by, as well as incredible places of natural beauty (7km from Ushuaia International Airport).

Accommodation & Facilities

There are 73 standard rooms (singles, doubles, triples etc) and 4 Junior Suites, all of which are warmly decorated with comfortable furnishings.  En-suite bathrooms feature shower and tub combinations with rainfall shower heads and deep soaking baths. Rooms and suites either have a view of the Beagle Channel or the snow capped Andes through massive windows and also include black out curtains, a mini bar and magnetic keys. The common areas are beautiful, with comfortable seating and spectacular views from every room. Sip a cocktail in the bar overlooking Ushuaia’s port and the Beagle Channel before enjoying some regional cuisine in the restaurant.

The spa includes a gym, Scottish showers, Finnish sauna, whirlpool and a relaxation room, great for guests after a long day skiing or trekking.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Dining

The chef uses local ingredients to create regional cuisine; the menu is clearly passionately designed and contains a variety of seafood from Port Almanza.

Activities

Surrounded by sky, mountains and water, Ushuaia is a beautiful city, and the closest to Antarctica. Summer here is ideal for horse riding, sport fishing, mountain bike riding and tours of the stunning Beagle Channel and Cape Horn. Guests may wish to visit the Artisan fairs, prison museum, Maritime museum or End of the World Museum where you can see where the indigenous people lived and died in the area.

Tours can be arranged round the beautiful reserve of Tierra Del Fuego National Park to explore the native wilderness, or just outside of the city there is the Martial Glacier. You may also want to visit Bird Island where you will find some national birds and penguins. Skiing is available in the winter and ‘Ski Gear Cleaning’ is available at the hotel.
