Coastal Wildlife Adventure Cruise

Explore the beauty of Desolation Sound on board the Pacific Yellowfin, encountering whales, dolphins, eagles and bears as well as discovering the history and culture of the area.

Sail through the secluded islands, tidal rapids and quiet inlets of Desolation Sound as you look out for a plethora of wildlife. From bears and birdlife to an array of marine species, there will be wildlife at every turn. Photograph the spectacular scenery of British Columbia, with glaciers carved into the land and calm coves bordered by towering granite cliffs. When not out exploring, relax on board the Pacific Yellowfin, dining on quality cuisine and chilling out on deck with a good book.

Day 1

Arrive Vancouver

Arrive into Vancouver and transfer to your city hotel to relax and explore the city. Depending what time you arrive, wander around the waterfront and grab a spot of dinner before getting ready for your Desolation Sound discovery.

Day 2

Vancouver – Campbell River Airport

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading back to the airport to board your light aircraft flight to Campbell River where you will be met and taken to Taku Resort and Marina to start your trip. Board the Pacific Yellowfin where you will settle in and have a briefing about your upcoming journey. As you will arrive quite early your adventure begins straight away with your Captain setting sail into Desolation Sound.

Overnight: Pacific Yellowfin (B, L, D)

Days 3-6

Exploring Desolation Sound

For the next few days you will have the opportunity to discover all that Desolation Sound has to offer. Not only does the area boast a huge variety of wildlife including bears, eagles, whales and dolphins, but also a wealth of cultural history and fantastic scenery too. The schedule is decided by the tides and wildlife locations, but you are likely to head out on the tenders in search of wildlife, enjoying kayaking and paddle boarding in tidal pools, watch whales from the bow of the ship, dine on fine cuisine and even harvest your own dinner from the fresh coastal waters including oysters, clams, crabs and mussels.

Overnight: Pacific Yellowfin (B, L, D)

Day 7

Desolation Sound – Vancouver

Spend your final day exploring the area before heading back to the marina. It’s now time to say goodbye to the stunning Desolation Sound. Disembark the Pacific Yellowfin and travel back to the airport for your flight back to Vancouver. Tonight you will have one more night in Vancouver where you can dine out and reminisce about your trip.

Day 8

Depart Vancouver

Depending on your flight time you may have some time to explore the city. When you’re ready, transfer back to the airport for your onward flight home.
