What to expect

Whale Watching

Beginning with a tour through pristine Clayoquot Sound, you’ll take in sensational scenery and wildlife including gray whales, sea lions, seals, porpoises, and killer whales. The area is also known for its variety of sea birds, including tufted puffins, and its number of resident bald eagles. From March through October, Pacific gray whales visit the shores. In July, resident gray whales arrive on the summer feeding grounds, where they remain until November. Humpbacks are frequent in August. One day, a pod of orcas may pass through the Sounds, while on another, a low tide allows investigation of the colourful inter-tidal zone.

Tofino Bear Watching

On this unforgettable tour, you will see up close the magnificent black bears that roam the temperate rainforest surrounding Clayoquot Sound. Starting with a quiet water excursion, you will travel up fjords from the comfort and safety of a 24’ Zodiac, making stops in sheltered bays to observe wildlife on shore. Your knowledgeable guide, who is committed to preserving the ecological value and timeless wonder of Clayoquot Sound, will share information about black bears and other inlet wildlife, including seals, eagles, porpoise, and heron.
