What you need to know before travelling to Kamchatka

Our first expeditions to Kamchatka were in 2019, and in order to provide our clients with the best possible information prior to their trips, we’ve assembled these advice pages so that you can learn all about this spectacular destination before you travel.

There are plenty of reasons to visit this peninsula, not least the wide range of wildlife, from orca, whales and bird life to the stars of Kamchatka, the large and plentiful brown bears the area is famous for.

Aside from the plentiful wildlife found in Kamchatka's rugged landscapes, travellers here can also marvel at volcanic sands, idyllic lakes, towering mountains, wild green spaces and a vast untouched wilderness which measures close to the size of Germany.

Just journeying to Kamchatka is an adventure in itself due to its location, terrain and limited transport links. Our small group specialist led photography trips are the best way to explore Kamchatka and capture images of the brown bears. Similarly our expedition ships allow for an adventurous exploration of Kamchatka's coastline.

If you have a question that isn’t answered by one of these pages, you can contact one of our Destination Specialists by clicking here.
