Setting

Just a ten minute drive from the gates of Ranthambore National Park, Khem Villas is located 13 kilometres from Sawai Madhopur in Rajastan. Access is by rail, road or car.

Accommodation & Facilities

All accommodation is environmentally sensitive and the owners went to great lengths to ensure the materials and skills were sourced locally. There are 8 luxury cottages with thatched roofs, limestone floors and glass walls that offers spectacular views. Cottages are all in a small ‘compound’ of their own for privacy and have stunning, yet simple, interiors that are ideal for relaxing after being out in the park. Cottages all have a private outdoor bath, especially wonderful for couples. There is even your very own private walk down to a private spot on the lake where you can sit and watch crocodiles bathing as you sip on a Kingfisher beer. The 5 luxury tents are on wooden platforms, each very spacious with modern furnishings. Tents are all en-suite with bathrooms created from natural materials, including bamboo and wood. Within the main building there are 4 standard bedrooms, each self-contained. Rooms all have air conditioning with en-suite bathrooms – upstairs bedrooms also have large bay windows.

In the main house, there is a library and bar, and there is a small pool for a cooling dip. Internet access is free.

Meals are included and all meals are vegetarian.

Activities

On site there is amazing bird-watching, with flying critters attracted by the variety in different terrains on which the camp sits. Morning and afternoon tiger safaris take place each day to give you the best possible chances of spotting one of these majestic big cats in the wild. As well as tigers, there is some wonderful wildlife, from deer and monkeys to crocodiles. You can also arrange to see Ranthambore Fort, take a guided nature walk back at the hotel, or take a 4x4 expedition to Soorwal Lake for some excellent birding. Camel rides to the nearby villages are available.
