Borneo Weather in August

The weather in Sabah in August is typically Bornean, with bright sunshine, 28 degrees Celsius temperatures as average and some rainy days mixed in. Orangutans are still coming down lower to fetch fruit, so this is a great time for wildlife and trekking, and with lots of sunny days to be had, we suggest Lankayan Island, Gaya Island and the beaches of Kota Kinabalu for some relaxation.

Baby turtles are likely to be hatching now too, making this one of the prime times for a combined wildlife and beach safari.

As with July, booking early is essential to getting your perfect Borneo safari in August. With children still at large from the holidays in Europe, it can get quite busy.

Turtle, Borneo

August is pretty dry for Sarawak, so the jungles, caves and beaches can be venture to, but of course, there is going to be the possibility of storms and rain at any time.

With such excellent weather, this is a wonderful time to explore everywhere from the Danum Valley and Kinabatangan River, to Sipidan and Kota Kinabalu.

Borneo is your oyster in August, so long as you book in advance.
