Style
An elegant and stylish lodge with echoes of yesteryear throughout. The camp is luxurious, tranquil and very wild.
Setting
Access is by road or private charter. The camp is on the Somalisa Concession within Hwange National Park, along the Somalisa flood plains.
Accommodation & Facilities
Of the 6 tents, 2 are doubles and 4 are twins. They are in a horseshoe shape, all separated by not just distance but bush. Built with an "A" frame structure, the tents are solid with canvas roofs and walls, large mess windows help keep them airy – drawing the outside in. The rooms are scattered with dark teak furnishings - including a writing desk, a typical African feature. Bathrooms are open air and include a bucket shower and flush toilet. Water is supplied by the staff for the basin and the shower on request.
The tents are all connected to the main area via wide and well trodden elephant paths, lit by paraffin lamps at night. The main area includes a small library, lounge, dining area and a gift shop. There was a swimming pool at the lodge, it has now however been taken over by the local wildlife and is a firm favourite with the elephants. This has become a great spot to join them, with a cup of tea or a cocktail!
There is also a full linen service and space to hang all your clothes.
Dining
Delicious traditional meals are served made from organic produce. Breakfast is usually by the fire, with snacks and a ‘high tea’ during the day, then a 3 course dinner – complimented by fine South African and Australian wines.
Activities
Guided drives and walks are available throughout the day. You can also go spotlighting at night to explore the nocturnal wildlife, or even do some game viewing from a hide.
Child Policy
Children are allowed, however please bear in mind that this camp is wild and any of the animals, large and small, may wander through the camp at any time. Children must be accompanied at all times.
