Style
Under flowing canvas and within earshot of the mighty Zambezi River, this tented camp offers an authentic taste of Africa without compromising on luxury.
Setting
Mpala Jena Camp overlooks a beautiful stretch of the Zambezi shoreline, with the four guest tents and suite elegantly positioned under the dappled shade of a mixture of indigenous trees. The property is located on a private concession within Zambezi National Park, which allows for easy access to Victoria Falls but is also far enough away from the hustle and bustle, allowing guests to relax and unwind along the riverfront.
Accommodation & Facilities
Each of the four large canvas tents here come with an en-suite bathroom, central lounge and dining area, and private plunge pool. Recycled hardwood decking, stylish Moroccan-influenced décor, tasteful wildlife artwork and top-of-the-range amenities provide a wonderful ambience. The 2-bedroom Mpala Jena Suite benefits from the same, as well as a dining area and larger decking area. Each bedroom also has its own private veranda and en-suite bathroom. At Mpala Jena’s main communal area, all guests are invited to make use of the library, wine cellar and curio shop.
Dining
An interactive kitchen with à la carte menu options can be enjoyed in the camp’s large dining area, where guests can dine either indoors or outdoors. Picnic breakfasts and lunches are the norm due to the beautiful river frontage settings and inland spring lines. Those staying at the Mpala Jena Suite can also indulge in private meals.
Activities
Mpala Jena Camp offers professionally guided wildlife viewing on open-vehicle drives, walks, boat cruises and canoeing excursions throughout the day. Those staying in the suite can enjoy this on a private basis, at no additional cost. The camp’s custom-built Land Cruisers are specially designed for photography. A visit to the spectacular Victoria Falls – whose name in the local Lozi language, Mosi-oa-Tunya, means “The Smoke that Thunders” – is a must for any who have yet to experience it.
Child Policy
Children over the age of 6 are welcome at Mpala Jena Camp, although extensive walking and canoeing activities are restricted to those aged 12 and above.
