About Chilo Gorge Lodge
Perched on cliffs overlooking the Save River, Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge is a luxurious retreat providing access to one of Africa’s last remaining areas of pristine wilderness. Largely undiscovered by the outside world, Gonarezhou means “Place of Elephants”, and is home to not just a vibrant population of these majestic animals, but also an incredible diversity of landscapes and habitats, as well as an abundance of flora and fauna.
This recently refurbished, spacious lodge has been created with nature in mind, using natural resources and colours. The lodge's position above the river provides guests stunning views of the Save River and the passing wildlife, together with the wonderful colours of a low veld sunrise and sunset.
Chilo Gorge was founded by award-winning conservationist Clive Stockil, whose primary vision is that conservation efforts will only be succesful if 'community-led'.
"A VISIT TO THE LOCAL VILLAGE TO SEE WHERE THE VERY FIRST 'CAMPFIRE' PROJECT BEGAN IS OFTEN THE HIGHLIGHT FOR MANY GUESTS."
