Style

An exciting camp, where even the journey in is an adventure

Setting

Access is via a 1 hour drive and a 1.5 hour pirogue ride through stunning forest swamps, gliding past tree stumps and past forest vines to a seasonal island in the middle of the forest.

Accommodation & Facilities

This is a basic camp, with long drop toilets and bush showers. Rooms are on stilts with views to the forest.

Dining

Meals are nourishing and basic due to the remoteness of the camp.

Activities

The bai is a 13 hectare swamp clearing in the forest, accessed by a forty minute walk through the forest. A nine metre observation tower has been built here where you can spend the day observing the wildlife that frequents the bai. The gorillas congregate here to feed on a protein-packed aquatic plant, making them easier to spot here than in the thick forests. A variety of other wildlife also congregates here, including the forest elephant, red river hog and sitatunga.

Child Policy

You must be over 15 years to track the gorillas so we do not recommend this camp for children.
