Honeymoon Safaris

All your need to know about Namibia honeymoon safaris...

Often overlooked as a safari destination, Namibia is the perfect place for the avid African safari enthusiast. With great wildlife, stunning scenery and some amazing cultural interactions with traditional Himba tribes.

Namibia offers it all.

Compared to mainstream African destinations, you can actually enjoy a Namibia honeymoon safari on a reasonably affordable budget. There are principally three ways in which to explore Namibia, either under your own steam on a self drive safari, on a guided safari or on a fly-in safari. The self-drive safari offers you the most affordable option however you will need some experience in 4x4 driving and be confident in driving on dirt roads – whilst it may appear more stressful than being guided throughout the country, this offers you true freedom and the chance to explore this vast country under your own steam.

Highlights of any Namibia honeymoon have to include the wonderful Sossusvlei dunes, the Skeleton Coast, Damaraland with its desert rhinos and elephants, and of course the wonderful Etosha National Park.

When exploring Sossuvlei, try and stay at Sossus Dune Lodge; being located within the park itself means you can get out to the dunes prior to anyone else that has to wait for the park gates to open. Mowani Mountain Camp (styled along similar lines to something you might see out of Star Wars!) is a beautiful lodge set amongst the rock outcrops overlooking the Twyfelfontein Conservancy and is the perfect base from which to enjoy the local desert elephants. Ongava Lodge set in the Ongava Reserve is set in its own private conservancy and offers rhino tracking on foot alongside some great big cat sightings and easy access to the renowned Etosha National Park.

One of our favourites located in the far north west on the banks of the Kunene River is the stunning Serra Cafema property offering a true wilderness experience and genuine cultural interaction with the local Himba.

The best time to go to Namibia varies hugely however travelling any time between April and December you will not be disappointed. September and October probably offer the best game viewing months as temperatures warm up slightly.
