About Iharana Bush Camp

About Iharana Bush Camp

With a design that combines traditional Malagasy and African styles, this intimate camp offers you an authentic bush camp stay, about 16 kilometres from the town of Ambilobe. In a place rich with natural beauty, here you are totally in the wilderness, with no TV, no internet and no air-conditioning.

This charming and unique ‘camp’ has replaced synthetic canvas with local materials, building the ‘tents’ (more like cottages) from mud, each with a thatched roof, resulting in an authentic Malagasy feel.

Lodge Details

Style

Accommodation isn’t typical of a camp, with cabana (or cottage) style rooms for guests. There are just 8 double rooms, keeping the camp intimate.

Setting

This ecological camp is located 16 kilometres from the town of Ambilobe, 15 kilometres from the RN6 and in close proximity to the Ankarana Reserve.

Accommodation & Facilities

The eight cottages, or cabanas, are built from local materials, mud, palm thatch, vines and roots. Cottages each have a private bathroom, including a shower with running cold water and a toilet. The sleeping area is on a mezzanine level, completely open on one side, and includes a large double, swathed in mosquito netting.

There is a large outdoor terrace, perfect for soaking up the stunning sunsets over the lake, behind the cliffs of massif Tsingys where you'll often see birds and lemurs. Lighting and hot water are solar powered. Wi Fi is available.

Dining

The restaurant serves healthy and delicious food, mostly locally sourced.

Activities

Here it is all about exploring as you venture around the local area, experience village life and view the Mahavavy River. Take a walk around the massif and explore the caves or head out in a 4x4 for an excursion to the mountains.

Child Policy

Children welcome.
