Accommodation & Facilities
There are 6 double rooms inspired by 1930’s décor, in keeping with the original style of the building. Each of the rooms has a large comfortable 4 poster bed, antique furnishings and spacious art-deco bathrooms. The Karen Blixen suite, which boasts her original furnishings and paintings by her famous cook, Kamante, is idea for families and opens up straight onto the giraffe sanctuary.
There is a living room, sun room and beautifully wood panelled dining room all traditionally styled with elegant features.
The food is superb, brilliantly complimenting your stay and you are likely to be joined by hungry giraffes at meal times before they head off into the forest!
The Manor’s location means there are lots of activities available, all of which can be organised by the helpful and friendly staff. There is the Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe Centre – originally a breeding centre for endangered Rothschild giraffes, which is now driven towards helping Kenyan school children – and the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage – a small charity working to rehabilitate baby elephants and rhino.
Other activities include visits to the Kenyan National Museum and the colourful Maasai Market.
Children of all ages are welcome.
