Indian Ocean in November

November weather and when to go

November is a fantastic time to travel to the Seychelles. Not only are the shells the island is famed for now clearly visible, but it is also a great time to witness wildlife around the islands. Aldabra giant tortoise young start to hatch at this time, and Hawksbill turtles start nesting from November onwards on Cousin Island.

There is some chance of storms in the Maldives at the beginning of November but as the country is coming to the end of its rainy season the majority of the month will be dry and clear.

If you pick a clear day, snorkelling will be good and with the mercury teetering around 28 degrees Celsius it will be plenty warm enough to dry off on the beach afterwards.

This is a great time for sunbathing in Mauritius with warmer temperatures but also rising humidity. Therefore, a dip in the stunning clear waters around the island is almost obligatory! Mauritius is home to over 100 types of bird including both endemic and ‘accidental’ species so keep your eyes out for birds fluttering through the trees.

November is perhaps the best month for hiking on Reunion Island. Temperatures are agreeable and trails will be quieter than earlier in the year and although November is the end of the dry season, the footpaths will still be passable. If you prefer less strenuous activities, speak to your hotel about arranging a helicopter flight over the island to take in the sights.
