Lodge Details
Style
Very luxurious and eco-friendly, Laamu has all the innovation and style of a Six Senses resort.
Setting
The only resort on the Laamu Atoll, it is reachable via a stunning 35 minute flight from the capital of the Maldives, Male, after which you will be met by a butler who will accompany you for the 20 minute speedboat ride to the resort.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are 97 villas in 5 styles, some out above the water and others set in the jungle-like gardens or on the beach. Some suites are spread over two floors, reached via weathered timber jetties allowing you to really enjoy the views with such amenities as a sunken all-glass bath tub, private water garden and over-water netting hammock. Others are nestled into lush forests, kept private by the natural flora, with an open-air bamboo-encircled shower and treetop deck. There is also a villa with 2 bedrooms and a private pool.
Villas are made from local and sustainable materials, with high attention to detail and excellent amenities. All villas have a flat screen TV, minibar, Wi-Fi, outdoor bathroom, Bose music station and air conditioning. Villas all have a GEM (Guest Experience Maker) who can assist you with organising your time here, and a bicycle so you are free to explore the land. Other facilities include the spa and jungle cinema, dive centre, water-sports centre and fully equipped gym.
Dining
The restaurants and bars here have been designed to make the most out of this unique environment; there is an over-water restaurant serving fresh Asian cuisine and fish, then the LEAF restaurant perched high above the organic garden serving Mediterranean cuisine. There is also a ‘cooking hut’ that offers cooking classes, and a 6.4 metre tower called Altitude rising out of the sea as a unique type of wine cellar. As well as this there is Ice for a massive choice of food for those with a sweet tooth, Chai - a lounge and bar, and the Chill Lounge & Bar with a first class list of delicious cocktails.
Activities
This is the best spot in the Maldives to go surfing and it is free, unless you need a lesson. Other activities here include swimming, snorkelling (the local reef is excellent), windsurfing, canoeing, wake-boarding, water-skiing and diving, as well as excursions on the island and fishing. You can also enjoy a sunset cruise where you might get to spot some dolphins.
Child Policy
Children are welcome.
