A luxurious boutique resort and spa located on the virgin island of Dhonakulhi, Island Hideaway is a serene haven providing exclusive accommodation. Dhonakulhi Island is large (equivalent to 28 football pitches), crescent shaped and uninhabited, privately owned and located in the north Maldives, with huge stretches of beach on each side. From here, crystal waters stretch past the horizon for beautiful sunsets, and unique reef formations prove for excellent diving.

On Dhonakulhi Island, a crescent shaped island with a unique reef system, sitting on a natural channel which forms the harbour for the marina. The island is peppered with banana and coconut trees, and fringed with white sandy beaches. A scenic 40 minute flight from Male to Hanimaadhoo and a quick speedboat ride will get you there.

Accommodation & Facilities

The range of accommodation starts with The Funa Pavilion (176m²), a spacious villa right on the beach front with white washed walls and teak flooring spanning a bedroom and living room, as well as an outdoor bathroom. The Raamba Retreats (385m²) offer an additional walk-in closet and Jacuzzi, then the Dhonakulhi Residence (550m²), scattered along the beach, have an additional garden dining pavilion and roof terrace, as well as a traditional Maldivian swing. The Hideaway Water Suites (235m²) are totally unique, built on wooden stilts out on the turquoise waters of the lagoon and have their own exclusive ocean views, sauna, steam room and outdoor round bathtub. The Jasmine Garden Villas (705m²) have their very own 9.5m x 4m private pool in the garden, then there is the Deluxe Jasmine Garden Family Villas (1500m²) with 2 bedrooms and a living room they are ideal for families or big groups, the private pool here is 53m², and you will also have an indoor/outdoor bathroom, two-person tub and open air terrace. Lastly the Hideaway Palace (1,420m²) is the ultimate in exclusivity and refinement; located on a natural sandbank is comprised of 5 individual villas surrounded by a number of infinity pools, giving them the impression of floating on water.

To sum it up, Island Hideaway has some of the most incredible accommodation you will find in the Maldives, a true spectacle of beauty and comfort. The unique butler service is available to prestigious clientele and can be available for 24 hours a day.

Island Hideaway also has the first marina in the Maldives, an incredibly indulgent spa and 2 spectacular restaurants and an exotic bar right on the beach.


The Matheefaru Restaurant serves a wide selection of cuisine from around the world and chefs are available any time of day or night to whip something up to your fancy. Meals can be enjoyed in one of the two restaurants or have a romantic meal on a sandbar, you can also dine in the privacy of your villa.


There is a massive range of activities to be enjoyed, the local reef is frequented by manta rays, dolphins, turtles and sharks and there are over 20 spectacular dive sites in a 5 to 60 minute radius. If you enjoy water-sports, then there is water-skiing, snorkelling, windsurfing, canoeing and wakeboarding, or have a go at big game or fly fishing. There is also jet skiing, fitness sports and shopping. A club is available to keep children entertained.
